Margaret J. Pittenger graduated from Physical Therapy school in 1970 from Wayne State University with a B.S. degree in Physical Therapy. She then attended Indiana University, earning a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy Education in 1976. Opening her clinic in 1984, Ms. Pittenger is now celebrating her 25th year in private practice as a Physical Therapist.
Ms. Pittenger has also applied her skills in educating practitioners, caregivers and the community-at-large through university, clinic, client and community education programs.
Ms. Pittenger has taught at various universities, including the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and Wayne State University in Detroit. She has presented seminars to professionals for many years. She was voted best clinician by her colleagues in NOVA CARE and best teacher of the year by the students at Virginia College.
In practice, Ms. Pittenger has recognized that all her private clients need specific breath work before they can begin to heal. Ninety-eight percent (98%) of these clients are hyperventilating when they present for therapy; therefore, all the seminars will include information about patterning breath with movement and posture work.
Over the past four years, Ms. Pittenger has noticed an increase in young women presenting with osteoporosis and other bone injuries. She has developed a new business for working with and educating women about osteoporosis. This disease no longer needs to be thought of in fearful tones. No matter who or what age, there are natural ways to prevent and reverse osteoporosis.
